A containment plenum (240) is adapted to deliver laser light to an interaction region of an inhabitable structure to remove material from the structure. The containment plenum (240) includes a plenum housing (242) adapted to be coupled to a source of laser light. The containment plenum (240) further includes a window (243) substantially transparent to the laser light. The window (243) is mounted within the plenum housing (242) to transmit the laser light in a downstream direction and to provide a barrier to upstream transport of particulate matter generated by interaction of the laser light and the structure. The containment plenum (240) further includes a nozzle (244) fluidly coupled to a source of compressed gas. The nozzle (244) is mounted downstream of the window (243) whereby the laser light and the compressed gas are transmitted through the nozzle (244) in the downstream direction to the interaction region of the structure. The containment plenum (240) further includes a resilient interface (246) coupled to the plenum housing (242) and adapted to resiliently contact the structure and to substantially surround the interaction region, thereby confining the material and removing the material from the interaction region.
L'invention concerne une chambre de confinement (240) pour l'illumination laser d'une zone d'interaction de structure inhabitable, visant à éliminer un matériau de cette structure. Ladite chambre (240) comporte une enceinte (242) destinée à être couplée à une source laser, et une fenêtre (243) sensiblement transparente à la lumière laser. La fenêtre (243) est montée dans l'enceinte (242) pour la transmission de la lumière laser en aval et l'établissement d'une barrière au transport en amont des matières particulaires résultant de l'interaction laser/structure. Cette chambre (240) comprend en outre une buse (244) couplée fluidique à une source de gaz comprimé. La buse (244) est montée en aval de la fenêtre (243), pour une transmission de la lumière et du gaz comprimé via la buse (244) en aval de la zone d'interaction de la structure. La chambre (240) comprend enfin une surface souple (246) couplée à l'enceinte (242), en contact souple avec la structure et entourant sensiblement la zone d'interaction, confinant ainsi le matériau et l'éliminant de la zone d'interaction.
