ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A containment with a long-time corrosion resis- tant protective cover for a container with highly ra- dioactive content consists of a thick-walled metallic containment cylinder having a bottom and lid mounted at its bottom and upper ends completely surrounded and sealed in by corrosion protective linings and layers to prevent corrosion damage. Additionally, cover and bottom plates are mounted on the lid and the bottom, respec- tively, which plates have diameters larger than those of the containment cylinder and the lid and bottom in order to prevent mechanical damage to the corrosion protective layers and liners of the containment.
