2101782 9212925 PCTABS00014 Apparatus for removing the contents of sealed containers such as beer cans, which may be arranged on a pack or tray, wherein the trays and cans are conveyed, by a conveyor belt (14) to a position located under an array of tubular spears (30) arranged to correspond to the positions of the cans. Actuating means (18) move the spears (30) downwards into engagement with the cans so that the free ends (34) of the spears (30) pierce the tops of the cans, the contents of the cans are then removed via the spears by suction means (42). The cans may then be crushed and are conveyed away from the spears and the next tray is conveyed into position.
