ABSTRACT IT IS KNOWN THAT CERTAIN ALLOY METALS SUCH AS MANGANESE (Mn) MOLYBDENUM (Mo), CHROMIUM (Cr), NICKEL (Ni), NIOBIUM (Nb), TITANIUM (Ti), ZIRCONIUM (Zr) AND ALUMINUM (Al) CHANGES THE WELDING PROPERTIES OF A CARBON STEEL WELDING WIRE ELECTRODE TO BETTER SUIT CERTAIN MATERIALS TO BE WELDED OR TO ENHANCE THE WELDING PROCESS AND THE RATE AND THE UNIFORMITY BY WHICH THE DEPOSIT PROCESS OF THE FILTER METAL TAKES PLACE DURING WELDING. IT IS THEREFORE COMMON TO USE THESE ALLOY METALS AS ADDITIVES WHEN THE STEEL IS MADE AND HAVE THEM CONTAINED IN THE STEEL AS AN ALLOY IN THE HEAT FROM WHICH BILLETS ARE CAST AND CONTAINED IN THE CARBON STEEL AS THE BILLET IS ROLLED TO WIRE ROD AND WATER OLD DRAWN TO FINISHED WELDING WIRE ELECTRODES. IN THIS INVENTION ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS OF ALLOY METAL IS APPLIED AS A SURFACE COATING IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO, OR DURING, OR AFTER THE COLD DRAWING PROCESS OF THE WIRE ELECTRODE WITH THE PURPOSE OF CHANGING THE FINAL COMPOSITION OF THE WELD METAL FROM WHAT IT WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN HAD NO SUCH SURFACE COATING BEEN APPLIED.
