ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a continuous casting machine of the type comprising a wheel with a periph- eral casting ring and a band covering the casting ring through a certain arc. The casting ring is supported by a structure supporting the wheel and including a sta- tionary mounted cooling device. In accordance with the invention, the supporting structure consists substan- tially of two facing flanges affixed to a drive shaft for the wheel, for rotation with the wheel, and the casting ring comprises peripheral edges projecting substantially parallel to the axis of the casting wheel and resting of outer peripheral surfaces of the flanges with the freedom to translate in a direction substan- tially parallel to the axis of the wheel and con- strained to be dragged in the direction of rotation of the casting wheel. Preferably, the peripheral casting ring has a cross-section substantially of ? form, the branches of the ? forming the peripheral projec- ting edges. The facing flanges define two substan- tially cylindrical peripheral centering surfaces bounded laterally outwards by two shoulders, and the peripheral ring is disposed with the branches of the ? on the cylindrical centering surfaces with a certain slack with respect to the shoulders.
