ABSTRACT A process of casting metal in an electromagnetic mold consists in that a flow of molten metal is continuously fed into an inductor of the mold, whereupon a casting is formed under the action of electromagnetic field. Initial solidification of the casting takes place on a bottom of the mold, with the frequency current passed through the inductor being such as to ensure equilibrium between hydrostatic pressure of the melt and electrodynamic pressure of the inductor field, thereby permitting the casting to be produced of a preset cross section. In the course of solidification of the melt, the casting being formed is continuously withdrawn from the inductor by moving the bottom. Once the bottom is removed from the inductor, the current frequency is increased for a value proprtional to a decrease in the electrodynamic pres- sure of the inductor field.
