ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The process herein set forth is a continuous treatment of coal and is based on agglomeration with a separate hardening stage which combines preheating and charmaking of the coal raw material with final carbonization and oxidation of the coke, the combination of charmaking and coking operation is in a single furnace which eliminates the need for multiple solid and gas transfer operations and provides effective environ- mental control of gaseous and solid emissions.
