A method for continuously galvanizing sheet steel by passing it through a bath consisting of zinc, aluminium and silicon, with an aluminium content of 0.05 - 0.5 wt % and a silicon content between 0.005 wt % and saturation point. In such a bath, no floating aluminium-bearing mattes or bottom mattes are formed.

Procédé de galvanisation en continu de tôle d'acier par passage de la tôle dans un bain constitué de zinc, d'aluminium et de silicium, la teneur en aluminium allant de 0,05 à 0,5 % en poids et celle en silicium de 0,005 % en poids jusqu'à la saturation. Dans un tel bain il n'y a ni formation de mattes flottantes aluminifères, ni formation de mattes de fond.
