A continuous hot rolling method involves cutting a rear end portion from a preceding metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block, the cut ends thereafter being heated and pressed into engagement with each other to be joined thereby. A poor joined portion of the joint is shaved off, and a finish rolling step is subsequently performed.
