ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for continuously monitoring the exposure of a carrier of the device to an airborne contaminant comprises a tube filled with an inert packing and a reagent which changes colour upon contact with the contaminant to be monitored. The tube has an open end and a membrane closes that end, the membrane permitting diffusion of the contaminant therethrough. The length of the packing which changes colour is directly proportional to the time weighted average concentration of the contaminant to which the device and the carrier or wearer of that device has been exposed.
