ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a temperature depen- dent continuous process for the production of the aluminum compounds Al(OH)3 and Al2(SO4)3, comprising: mixing aluminum ore with a stoichiometric amount of reagent chosen from the group consisting of NaHSO4, KHSO4 or (NH4)2SO4; controlling the temperature within any one of the following ranges, below 200°C, 350-450°C or above 500°C; calcinating said mixture to form a mixture of double sulfate Al/Na Al/K or Al/ammonium depending upon the temperature range chosen, and an insoluble residue; treating the calcinated mixture with water to separ- ate said insoluble residue from said sulfate; treating the solution of said aluminum sulfate with one of the group con- sisting of pyridine, the gaseous products of calcination, and ethanol to form a precipitate of an aluminum compound and a solution of one of the group consisting of NaHSO4, KHSO4 or (NH4)2SO4; separating the precipitate from the solution; dis- solving said precipitate in a solute chosen from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide or water; adding a precipitant chosen from the group consisting of aluminum trihydrate or ethanol to the resulting solution to form a precipitate of aluminum hydroxide or aluminum sulfate and a solution of sodium hydroxide or ethanol; and separating the precipitate from the solution.
