A method and apparatus for removing H2S from a process gas, including a residence chamber between an absorption chamber and an oxidizer chamber, in the polyvalent metal redox catalyzed removal of H2S from a process gas. The process and apparatus of the present invention inclues a first gas-liquid mass transfer zone or absorber chamber for intimately contacting an H2S-containing process gas with an oxidized polyvalent metal redox solution for absorption of the H2S; and a residence chamber in fluid communication with polyvalent metal redox solution exiting the absorption chamber through a valve-controlled cross-flow conduit. Cross flow of solution from the absorber chamber through a valve or other circulation control device to the residence chamber provides controlled, continuous and sequential gas-liquid contact with two or more different gases in separate absorption, reaction and oxygenation zones within a single or multiple vessels,
Procédé et appareil pour éliminer H2S dans un gaz de procédé, faisant appel à un compartiment de séjour entre un compartiment d'absorption et un compartiment d'oxydant, pour l'élimination de H2S dans un gaz de procédé, avec catalyse rédox par un métal polyvalent. Le procédé et l'appareil de la présente invention comprennent : une première zone de transfert massique gaz-liquide ou un compartiment d'absorbeur pour mettre intimement en contact un gaz de procédé renfermant du H2S avec une solution rédox d'un métal polyvalent oxydé, pour l'absorption du H2S; un compartiment de séjour en communication fluide avec la solution rédox de métal polyvalent sortant du compartiment d'absorption via un conduit à écoulement croisé, contrôlé par un robinet. L'écoulement croisé de la solution provenant du compartiment de l'absorbeur via un robinet ou un autre système de régulation de l'écoulement vers le compartiment de séjour permet d'obtenir un contact régulier, continu et séquentiel gaz-liquide avec deux ou plusieurs gaz différents dans des zones séparées d'absorption, de réaction et d'oxygénation à l'intérieur d'un seul ou de plusieurs contenants.
