ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous process is provided for effecting the acid hydrolysis of starchy materials such as whole grains, e.g., corn, or tubers, e.g., potatoes, at high solids and in an economically desirable manner. The process produces glucose which is readily fermentable to produce ethanol.
