A continuous process is provided for preparing silica microgels using carbon dioxide as a gel initiator at a pressure of at least about 172 kPa (about 25 psig). Consistent performance of microgel can be produced with varying production rates.

L'invention concerne un procédé continu permettant de préparer des microgels de silice en utilisant du dioxyde de carbone comme initiateur de gel à une pression d'au moins environ 172 kPa (environ 25 psig). On peut ainsi obtenir une qualité de microgel constante avec différentes cadences de production.
