ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an apparatus for the continuous production of steel including a first chamber section for the melting down, a second chamber section for the oxidation process and a third chamber section for final oxidazation and slag formation, the first chamber section being a shaft furnace having a melting tank in its lower region, the second chamber section being constructed as an electromagnetic counter- flow channel and in communication with the melting tank, a waste gas flow path from the third chamber section extending over the second chamber section into the lower part of the shaft furnace.
