ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A forced cooling device for a chamber of a Hoffman type continuous ring furnace comprises a blower which is mounted on the fire pit of the chamber to supply a fresh air stream downwardly through the fire pit and thence to the chamber. Water can be sprayed into the air stream to improve the cooling action thereof. The arrangement facilitates rapid cooling of the chamber and avoids subjecting the blower to very hot air from the chamber.
