An apparatus [20] for encasing material [64] in continuous roll stock netting [46] is described. The apparatus [20] has a product horn [26] axially aligned with and diametrically opposed to a mandrel [44] over which continuous roll stock netting [46] has been placed. The mandrel [46] is movable into a passageway 138] between two gates 32, 38] and the netting [46] is engaged by a set of claws [28], after which the mandrel [44] retracts. A set of claws [28] holds the netting [46] open as a ram [24] pushes the material [64] through the product horn [26] into the open netting [46]. The first gate [32] gathers the open end of the netting [46] for closure by a clipper [36]. The second gate [38] gathers the netting [46] and a set of adjustable clamps [156, 158] retracts the netting [46], pulling the netting [46] tightly over the material [64]. A second clipper [42] clips and severs the gathered netting [46] to enclose the material [64] in the netting [46].
