A method and apparatus for reducing the production or emission of noxious gases while continuously preheating a mixture of iron-bearing scrap charge materials for an electric steelmaking furnace operation with off-gas from the furnace, including provision for controlled combustion within the preheating chamber. Removed gases are then treated by thermal incineration of combustible residual matter before release into the atmosphere to ensure that no noxious gases are emitted.
Méthode et appareil permettant de réduire la production ou l'émission de gaz toxiques tout en assurant le préchauffage continu d'un mélange composé de matériaux de charge et de rebuts ferrifères dans une acierie électrique dont les fours libèrent des effluents gazeux. La méthode et l'appareil permettent également de régler la combustion dans la chambre de préchauffage. Les gaz extraits sont alors traités par incinération thermique avant d'être libérés dans l'atmosphère, ce qui donne l'assurance qu'aucun gaz toxique n'est libéré
