ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous extrusion and vulcanization apparatus, comprises: an extruder for forming an elongated member from a vulcanizable polymer; a container for a pressurized liquid heat medium for vulcanizing the elongated member, the container having one end thereof connected to a head of the extruder; an outlet for said elongated member at an end of the container opposite to the end connected to the extruder; a sealing device at the outlet for forming a seal around the elongated member as the latter leaves the container; a cooling device for cooling the elongated member vulcanized in the container; and an inter- mediate separation device between the sealing device and the cooling device for preventing direct contact between the pres- surized liquid heat medium and coolant from the cooling device, The apparatus is compact and economical, and overcomes the necessity for liquid heat medium recirculation, deformations in the elongated member and the danger of explosions.
