ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous water washing apparatus for a cloth, which has multi-layer guide rolls which pull up a cloth being processed and shift the same in horizontal directions being provided in a staggeredly opposing manner above a pre-washing tank having another set of multi-layer guide rolls and pres- surized air blow out pipes provided therein, and has a water receptacle provided for each of the guide rolls arranged in left and right vertical columns, a cleaning water supply mechanism connected to the water receptacle at the uppermost stage, a sag prevention mechanism for holding a cloth in a horizontally shifting manner and a tension detection mechanism, further a shifting speed detection mechanism for said cloth, a cloth width detection mechanism and a water filled up volume adjusting mechanism for a water receptacle by said cloth width detection mechanism.
