ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous winch with two pulleys, at least one of which is driven and is provided with a multiple groove configur- ation with one discharge groove for the non-loaded cable. The non-loaded, running-off cable in the winding groove is capable of being stressed or tensioned transverse to the discharge direction. The winding groove is bounded by a tensioning disc which is spring-loaded in the tensioning direction. The tension- ing disc is capable of being released from the cable against the spring-loading by a hydraulically actuated piston. The cable unwinding groove, which is located opposite the winding groove in the axial direction of the disc, is bounded by a clamping disc, which is capable of being engaged by n hydraulic pressure piston against the cable. The piston of the tensioning disc, and the piston of the clamping disc, are coupled by a hydraulic control and are capable of being engaged by pressure in opposite directions with respect to the cable.
