ABSTRACT A process for continuously dyeing yarn comprises coating the surface of a continuously moving yarn with a uniform coating of dye liquid deposited at a rate such that the amount of dye liquid deposited per unit area of yarn surface is less than the same unit area of the yarn could absorb naturally then heating the coated yarn so as first to remove substantially all the liquid from the dye and then to cause the dye to penetrate and become fixed in the yarn.
