ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a pipe chamber feeder for use in the hydraulic handling of solid material comprising a pair of pipe chambers; a charging pump arranged to alternately charge said chamber, through locking mechanisms, with an aqueous slurry, a large pressure pump arranged to pump water from a clear water-basin at high pressure alternately into said charged chambers through locking mechanisms to initially raise the pressure therein and subsequently cause discharge of said slurry at high pressure through locking mechanisms to a delivery duct, the improvement comprising at least one intermediate chamber adapted to receive aqueous slurry through a locking mechanism from said charging pump when said pipe chambers are being pres- surized and depressurized and to be pressurized and be dis- charged of said slurry by said high pressure pump together with discharge of said pipe chamber of said slurry whereby said chamber may be charged on a continuous basis.
