A hydrostatic transmission (10) includes wedge-shaped swashplate (54) operatively positioned between a hydraulic pump unit (28) driven by an input shaft (14) and a grounded hydraulic motor unit (40) to accomodate pumped exchanges of hydraulic fluid between the units (28, 40). The swashplate (54), drivingly coupled to an output shaft (16), is angularly adjustable about a pivot axis (57) oriented in intersecting, orthogonal relation to the output shaft axis (17) to infinitely variable transmission ratios. Pilot bearings (72, 75), mounted by the swashplate (54), support cylinder blocks (36, 48) of the hydraulic pump and motor units (28, 40) for nutating motions centered on the swashplate pivot axis (57) to minimize the resultant moment on the swashplate (54). Piston rods (32, 44) in the hydraulic pump and motor units (28, 40) are oriented in outwardly flared, acute angles to the output shaft axis (17) to expand the range of permissible angular adjustement of the swashplate (54) by a ratio controller (68).
Cette transmission hydrostatique (10) comprend un plateau oscillant cunéiforme (54), placé de manière fonctionnelle entre une unité pompe hydraulique (28) entraînée par un arbre d'entrée (14) et une unité moteur hydraulique (40) mis à la terre, afin de loger des échanges pompés de fluide hydraulique entre ces unités (28, 40). Des tiges (32, 44) de piston des unités (28, 40) pompe hydraulique et moteur sont orientées pour former des angles aigus évasés vers l'extérieur avec l'axe (17) de l'arbre mené, afin d'accroître la gamme de réglages angulaires possibles du plateau oscillant (54) à l'aide d'un dispositif (68) de commande de rapports.
