A continuously variable transmission (CVT) having a main shaft configured to support and position various components of the CVT. Shift cam discs cooperate with ball-leg assemblies to shift the transmission ration of the CVT. Load cam discs, a torsion disc, rolling elements, and a hub cap shell are configured to generate axial force, transmit torque, and manage reaction forces. In one embodiment, a splined input shaft and a torsion disc having a splined bore cooperate to input torque into the variator of the CVT. Among other things, various ball axles, axle-ball combinations, and reaction force grounding configurations are disclosed. In one embodiment, a CVT having axial force generation means at both the input and output elements is disclosed
La présente invention concerne une transmission à changement de vitesses continu (CVT) possédant un arbre principal agencé de façon à supporter et à positionner divers composants de cette transmission CVT. Des cames tournantes de charge, un disque de torsion, des éléments de roulement et une coque d'enjoliveur sont agencées de façon à générer une force axiale, un couple de transmission et à gérer des forces de réaction. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, un arbre d'entrée cannelé et un disque de torsion possédant un alésage cannelé coopèrent de façon à entrer le couple dans le variateur de cette transmission CVT. Parmi d'autres choses, cette invention concerne aussi divers essieux à billes, des combinaisons de billes d'essieu et des configurations de force de réaction. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, cette invention concerne aussi une transmission CVT possédant un organe de génération de force axiale au niveau des éléments d'entrée de sortie.
