The invention provides intra-fallopian devices and non-surgical methods for their placement to prevent conception. The efficacy of the device (10) is enhanced by forming the structure at least in part from copper or a copper alloy. The device (10) is anchored within the fallopian tube by a lumen traversing region (24) of the resilient structure which has a helical outer surface, together with a portion of the resilient structure which is biased to form a bent secondary shape, the secondary shape having a larger cross section than the fallopian tube. The resilient structure is restrained in a straight configuration and trans-cervical inserted within the fallopian tube, where it is released. Optionally, permanent sterilization is effected by passing a current through the resilient structure to the tubal walls.
La présente invention concerne des dispositifs à insérer dans la trompe de Fallope et des procédés non chirurgicaux de mise en place de ces dispositifs à des fins contraceptives. L'efficacité dudit dispositif (10) est améliorée par la composition de cette structure qui est au moins en partie réalisée en cuivre ou en alliage de cuivre. La fixation du dispositif (10) dans la trompe de Fallope est assurée par deux parties de la structure souple, l'une qui traverse la cavité de la trompe (24) et dont la surface extérieure est en spirale, et l'autre qui est inclinée de façon à donner à la structure une deuxième forme courbée, dont la section transversale est plus large que celle de la trompe. La structure souple est maintenue serrée dans une configuration droite. Elle est insérée par le canal cervical dans la trompe de Fallope, où elle est alors desserrée. On peut éventuellement procédér à une stérilisation permanente en faisant passer sur les parois de la trompe un courant électrique à travers la structure élastique.
