For a video apparatus such as a television receiver, a gray level correcting device is provided to correct luminance and color saturation of a video signal, thereby making the reproduced image clear and vivid. In this device, at least one of the difference between the black level of the luminance signal and a predetermined pedestal voltage and the difference between the white level and a certain white level control voltage is calculated, and the color saturation of a chrominance signal is controlled by the color saturation control voltage added with the calculated difference.

L'invention décrit, pour un appareil vidéo, par exemple un téléviseur, un correcteur de niveau de gris permettant de corriger la luminance et la saturation des couleurs d'un signal vidéo, ce qui assure la clarté et la vivacité de l'image reproduite. Dans ce dispositif, au moins une des différences, soit la différence entre le niveau de noir du signal de luminance et un décollement de tension prédéterminé, soit celle entre le niveau de blanc et une certaine tension de commande du niveau de blanc, est calculée; et la saturation des couleurs d'un signal de chrominance est contrôlée par la tension de commande de la saturation des couleurs combinée à la différence calculée.
