A control apparatus for a pump includes hydraulic cylinders connected to the pump. Movement of pistons within the hydraulic cylinders between extended and retracted positions provide motive force to the pump. A drive motor is provided with a rotary output shaft on which is mounted a cam. A control valve has an actuator arm which engages the cam. When the actuator arm is in a first position hydraulic fluid is supplied to the hydraulic cylinders to moving the piston to an extended position. When the actuator arm is in a second position hydraulic fluid is supplied to the hydraulic cylinders to move the piston to a retracted position. Movement of the actuator arm is governed by rotational movement of the cam.
