Abstract A control device for hydrostatic steering means comprises two rotatable slide elements (32, 33). Between the connections on the pump side and the container side, they possess a bypass throttle (17) which is open in the neutral position. The bypass throttle (17) has two throttle positions behind each other in that two control grooves (56, 57) mutually offset in the direction of rotation are interconnected in one slide element (33) in the neutral position by a bridging space (58) in the other slide element (32). This results in a marked reduction in noise. Fig. 3
