The invention relates to a control method for gas burners. The control method according to the invention provides that a calibration of the control is carried out at predetermined points in time. In the case where, subsequently to the predetermined point in time, the burner is operated under stable operating conditions for a predetermined period of time, a new stable calibration is established to replace the previous stable calibration. When the burner has not been operated under stable operating conditions for the predetermined period of time, a preliminary calibration is established on the basis of the most recent operating conditions.
