The invention relates to a control of a passive prosthetic knee joint with adjustable damping in the direction of flexion and in the direction of extension for adapting a prosthetic unit which comprises a lower leg shank and an artificial foot fastened to the prosthetic knee joint to climbing stairs. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: detecting a low-torque lift of the prosthetic foot, lowering the flexion damping in a lift phase to below a level which is suitable for walking on level ground, increasing, in a time-delayed manner, the flexion damping in a placement and hip straightening phase to a level above a damping of a swing phase control for walking on level ground.

L'invention concerne un système de commande d'une prothèse passive de l'articulation du genou à amortissement réglable dans le sens de la flexion et dans le sens de l'extension, qui permet d'adapter un appareil prothétique composé d'une tige de jambe et d'un pied artificiel fixés à cette prothèse de l'articulation du genou, afin que cet appareil permette de monter un escalier. Selon ledit système, un faible moment de soulèvement du pied prothétique est détecté; lors d'une phase de soulèvement, l'amortissement de flexion est réduit en dessous d'un niveau approprié pour marcher sur le plat et, lors d'une phase de pose et d'étirement de la hanche, l'amortissement de flexion est augmenté de manière décalée dans le temps au-dessus d'un niveau d'amortissement d'un système de commande de phase d'élan permettant de marcher sur le plat.
