ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Microwave cooking of food products is controlled to a desired degree by providing a desired combination of thermal energy generation to achieve surface browning and microwave energy screening to limit the proportion of incident microwave energy passing to the foodstuff. The control is achieved by controlling the thickness of a layer of electroconductive material.
