ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a motor feeding a welding consumable electrode wire. The device utilizes simple adjusting circuits to regulate the speed of the motor feeding the consumable electrode and wherein the motor is fed simply by a arc voltage. A drive voltage is provided whose amplitude is proportional to that of an instantaneous D.C. arc voltage with the ratio of proportionality being adjustable. A relatively low steady adjustable D.C. voltage is also provided and these two voltages are electrically connected together at one extremity and further connected at their other extremity to respective terminals of the motor, so that the control voltage of the motor is the difference between the high drive voltage and the relatively low steady D.C. voltage.
