A well installation comprising metallic structure including downhole metallic tubing (11, 12) for conveying product towards the surface, a sub surface safety valve (2) disposed in the downhole metallic tubing for interrupting flow of product towards the surface when closed and allowing flow of product towards the surface when open. Also provided are valve control means (3) disposed downhole and arranged for detecting electrical signals in the downhole metallic tubing and for holding the valve open whilst receiving an electrical signal, and surface signalling means (4) for applying an electrical signal to metallic structure of the well for transmission via the downhole metallic tubing towards the valve control means so as to hold the valve open. The system can be made more robust by ensuring that the control means (3) will only hold the valve open whilst receiving a signal of given characteristics to help prevent stray currents erroneously holding the valve open. This signal selective aspect of the system may be implemented using a tuned impedance generation means (32).
La présente invention concerne une installation de puits comprenant une structure métallique contenant un tubage métallique (11, 12) de fond de trou pour acheminer le premier vers la surface, une vanne de sécurité (2) de fond disposée dans le tubage métallique de fond de trou pour interrompre l'écoulement de produit vers la surface lorsqu'elle est en position fermée et pour permettre l'écoulement du produit vers la surface lorsqu'elle est en position ouverte. L'invention concerne également un moyen (3) de commande de vanne disposé en fond de trou et conçu pour détecter des signaux électriques dans le tubage métallique de fond de trou et pour maintenir la vanne en position ouverte lors de la réception d'un signal électrique, et un moyen de signalisation en surface (4) pour appliquer un signal électrique pour une structure métallique du puits afin d'assurer la transmission par l'intermédiaire du tubage métallique de fond de trou vers le moyen de commande de vanne de manière à maintenir la vanne en position ouverte. Le système peut être renforcé en garantissant que le moyen de commande (3) ne maintienne la vanne en position ouverte que lors de la réception d'un signal présentant des caractéristiques données afin d'empêcher des courants vagabonds de maintenir erronément la vanne en position ouverte. La sélectivité du signal du système peut être mise en oeuvre à l'aide d'un moyen (32) de génération d'impédance syntonisé.
