ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a control panel assembly for use in a microwave oven or other cooking appliance, there is described an assembly wherein all of the various circuit elements employed, including semiconductor chips, are mounted on the opposite side of a printed circuit board to various sources of heat within the oven. Known assemblies expose the circuit elements, some of which are heat sensitive, to heat radiating from within the oven and are therefore prone to malfunction. In this invention, a printed circuit board forms the back surface of the control assembly. The various circuit elements utilized are all mounted on the surface of the circuit board facing inwardly of the assembly whereas the connections to the board are all made on the outward surface of the board which faces towards the heat sources. A further advantage of such a construction is that the outward or second surface of the circuit board remains substantially flat and is therefore easily connectable to devices which can test the operating condition of the assembly.
