CONTROL PANEL FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH Abstract of the Disclosure A control panel, formed entirely of solid state compon- ents, for an automatic transfer switch which alternatively connects a load to a normal source of power or starts up an emergency source of power and connects the load to it. The control panel includes a voltage monitor for the normal source, the monitor having a pickup voltage and a lower dropout voltage, a relay for initiating operation of the emergency source when the normal source drops below the dropout level, and a time delay circuit between the monitor and the relay preventing operation of the relay if the voltage drop lasts for less than the time delay provided. A feedback loop between the time delay circuit and the monitor causes the monitor to respond to normal source voltage above the pickup level for the duration of the time delay. The monitor continuously monitors all three phases of a three phase normal source. A monitor for the emergency source independently monitors the voltage and fre- quency of the emergency source. The emergency source voltage and frequency monitors have a pickup level and a lower dropout level. A relay causes operation of the transfer switch when the emergency source voltage and frequency rise above the pickup level, and a time delay circuit between the relay and voltage monitor prevents operation of the relay for a pre- determined period after the emergency source voltage rises above the pickup level. A feedback loop causes resetting of the time delay circuit each time the emergency source voltage drops below the pickup level. The relay responsive to the normal source monitor has a pair of contacts in a circuit for starting and maintaining the emergency source, and auxiliary -2- contacts controlled by the transfer switch are in parallel with the relay contacts to keep the emergency source operative should the transfer switch fail to shift the load from the emergency source to the normal source. A relay responsive to the normal source monitor has four pairs of contacts for operating the transfer switch. Four pairs of auxiliary con- tacts controlled by the transfer switch are located respectively between each pair of relay contacts and the two power sources so as to separate the relay contacts from the power source. * * *
