ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a control system for supplying a polyphase load from a DC supply. A pair of electrical switches are provided for each phase terminal of the load and the switches are alternately operated in sequence to connect each phase terminal to one or other terminal of the DC supply. Both the frequency and effective average phase voltage may be varied to suit the load.
