A nozzle design and method for designing such a nozzle being adapted for three phase slurry flow from the choke into the flash tank during pressure let-down in autoclave mining operations that uses a selection of the expansion ratio in the choke to select a nozzle dispersion angle to select a spread of the flow over the slurry pool in the flash tank, to generally maximize the use of the pool for energy dissipation without causing undo wear and tear on the tank walls.

L'invention concerne un modèle de buse et un procédé de conception dudit modèle de buse qui est apte à permettre un écoulement de boue triphasique entre un étrangleur et un réservoir de vaporisation par détente au cours d'une régulation de pression dans le cadre d'opérations minières en autoclave. Selon le procédé de l'invention, on choisit un taux d'expansion dans l'étrangleur qui détermine un angle de dispersion de la buse et, par conséquent, un étalement du flux au-dessus du bassin dans le réservoir de vaporisation, ce qui permet de généralement maximiser l'utilisation du bassin pour la dissipation de l'énergie sans entraîner d'usure excessive des parois du réservoir.
