A liquid embolic delivery system is provided for trapping an injected liquid embolic composition to prevent the liquid embolic from solidifying or otherwise passing outside of an embolization area. The delivery system includes a catheter for delivery of a liquid embolic composition and a containment member positioned at a distal end of the catheter which is shaped to trap the liquid embolic composition delivered through the lumen of the catheter. The containment member is formed as a brush, nest, sponge, swab, flexible sack, or other shape into and around which the liquid embolic composition is injected. The liquid embolic composition is trapped or meshes with the containment member during solidification containing the liquid embolic and preventing the embolic composition from passing into the blood stream.
L'invention porte sur un système d'administration d'un liquide d'embolisation qui permet de piéger une composition liquide d'embolisation, injectée, pour empêcher le liquide de se solidifier ou de sortir d'une zone d'embolisation. Le système d'administration comprend un cathéter permettant d'administrer une composition liquide d'embolisation et un élément de retenue positionné à une extrémité distale du cathéter conçu pour piéger la composition liquide d'embolisation, administrée dans le lumen du cathéter. L'élément de retenue se présente sous forme d'une brosse, d'un nid, d'une éponge, d'un écouvillon, d'un sac souple ou autre forme dans lequel et autour duquel la composition liquide d'embolisation est injectée. La composition liquide d'embolisation est piégée ou emprisonnée par l'élément de retenue dans lequel elle se solidifie et ne peut ainsi passer dans le flux sanguin.
