ABSTRACT A device for the sustained release of materials into the rumen of a ruminant animal is a capsule having an elongate, tubular body member housing a therapeutic or nutrient composition. Wings are pivotally attached to one end of the body member and are resiliently biased away from a storage position wherein the wings extend along the body member. In the biased position the wings are at a predeter- mined angle to the body member and cannot go beyond this angle.
