A method of and apparatus for controlling the opening and/or closing of contacts of an electro- mechanical switching device in an alternating current circuit. Detection is made for the existence of a voltage having a level which is indicative of a back emf in a load circuit immediately following opening of the contacts, and if such a voltage level is detected an incremental adjustment is made in the phase angle at which successive actuations of the contacts are effected. This procedure is repeated under the control of a microprocessor until such time as the voltage which is indicative of back emf reduces to zero, this providing an indication that contact opening is occurring at a time corresponding to zero current crossing in the alternating current waveform.
Méthode et appareil permettant de réguler l'ouverture et/ou la fermeture des contacts d'un appareil de commutation électromécanique dans un circuit à courant alternatif. Le dispositif cherche la présence d'une tension dont le niveau indique la présence d'une force contre-électromotrice dans un circuit de charge immédiatement après l'ouverture des contacts. Si la présence d'une telle tension est détectée, un ajustement incrémentiel est effectué dans l'angle de phase des déclenchements ultérieurs des contacts. Cette procédure est répétée sous la commande d'un microprocesseur jusqu'à ce que la tension indicatrice de force contre-électromotrice soit ramenée à zéro, ce qui indique que l'ouverture des contacts se fait au moment du passage à zéro du courant de l'onde alternative.
