A method for controlling the sex ratio of offspring by targeting transgenes. The method involves: (a) selecting or creating a transgene whose expression can interfere with sperm's ability to undergo fertilization, and whose gene products (mRNA and protein) do not diffuse freely among inter-connected spermatids; (b) placing the transgene under the regulatory control of post- meiotic spermatogenesis-specific promoter; and (c) using the transgene to generate transgenic animals in the way that the transgene is inserted onto one of the two sex chromosomes.
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de régulation du pourcentage des sexes d'une progéniture par ciblage de transgènes. Ledit procédé consiste: (a) à sélectionner ou créer un transgène dont l'expression peut porter atteinte à la capacité du sperme à subir une fertilisation, et dont les produits géniques (mRNA et protéine) ne sont pas diffusés librement parmi les spermatides interconnectées; (b) à placer le transgène sous le contrôle, aux fins de régulation, d'un promoteur spécifique de la spermatogenèse post-moïétique; et (c) à utiliser le transgène pour générer des animaux transgéniques de sorte que le transgène soit inséré sur l'un des deux chromosomes sexuels.
