ABSTRACT Ideas on book supports already developed by inventors have generally aimed at a simple, compact, collapsible, and economical product. From the point of view of function, however, only supporting a book in an inclined position can be considered satisfactory, but not when this comes to the way the pages of a book are held open. Of the three main approaches introduced for holding the pages open, the one using a flexible finger-like member that presses against the pages has adjustment difficulties. The one dependent on tight hinges for its proper function has limited life span due to wear. Finally, solid stops in front of the lower end of the book obstruct the free turning of the pages. The present invention, without compromising on simpli- city, compactness and economy, is placing particular emphasis on the originality of the page-holding method. The pages here are held open by two finger-like means which slide easily back and forth in front of the open book. They become firm when slightly presses against the pages but go completely out of the way when pulled backwards. _ 1 _
