A conversion apparatus including a plurality of high-speed switching devices, each being operable in latch type operation and non-latch type operation and a power source for supplying a first current to the high-speed switching devices, thereby forming a current path of the high-speed switching devices. The high-speed switching device is turned off after changeover from the latch type operation to the non-latch type operation. The conversion apparatus further includes a current regulation circuit provided in the current path for regulating a second current flowing through the current regulation circuit from a time when the second current reaches a prescribed value. In a case of overcurrent malfunction, the high-speed switching device is changed from the latch type operation to the non-latch type operation, and then is caused to be turned off during when the current regulation circuit regulates the second current.
Appareil de conversion comportant un certain nombre de dispositifs de commutation à grande vitesse individuellement conçus pour pouvoir fonctionner en mode à verrouillage et en mode sans verrouillage. Une source d'alimentation faisant également partie de cet appareil permet de fournir un premier courant à ces dispositifs de commutation à grande vitesse et de constituer avec eux un circuit électrique. Ces dispositifs de commutation sont conçus pour se fermer lorsqu'ils passent d'un fonctionnement en mode à verrouillage à un fonctionnement en mode sans verrouillage. L'appareil de conversion dispose d'autre part d'un circuit de régulation du courant formant une partie du circuit électrique; ce circuit particulier permet de réguler un deuxième courant qui passe par lui lorsque ce deuxième courant atteint une valeur déterminée. En cas de fonctionnement défectueux provoqué par une surintensité, le dispositif de commutation à grande vitesse passe du mode à verrouillage au mode sans verrouillage; puis il se ferme lorsque le circuit de régulation du courant agit efficacement sur le deuxième courant.
