An amphibious shoe-like structure (8) for swimming and walking having a shoe- like structure (10) for receiving a foot and a fin structure (12) that provides a fin blade surface that expands in the swimming mode and collapses in the walking mode to rest adjacent to the wearer's instep. The fin structure (12) comprises a plurality of fin arms (22) pivotally connected to the shoe- like structure (10) for rotating the fin arms (22) outwardly in the swimming mode position and for rotating the fin arms (22) inwardly towards the instep of the wearer for a walking mode position. The fin arms (22) diverge relative to one another when rotating outwardly and converge towards one another when rotating inwardly to rest adjacent to the wearer's instep. The fin structure (12) further comprises a flexible web member (24) that engages with the fin arms (22) and is of the configuration and size to accomodate the area generated by the expanding and diverging side fin arms (22). The convertible amphibious structure further provides for locking means (36) to lock the fin structure (12) in the extended swimming mode positions and for unlocking when converting into the walking mode position.

L'invention concerne une structure du type chaussure (8) destinée à la nage comme à la marche et comportant une structure du type chaussure (10) accueillant le pied de l'utilisateur ainsi qu'une structure de palme (12) qui présente une surface de plat de palme, ladite surface se dépliant en mode nage et se repliant en mode marche pour reposer près du cou-de-pied de l'utilisateur. La structure de palme (12) comprend plusieurs bras de palme (22) reliés pivotants à la structure du type chaussure (10); elle sert à faire pivoter les bras de palme (22) vers l'intérieur, en direction du cou-de-pied de l'utilisateur, pour passer en mode marche. Les bras de palme (22) divergent lorsqu'on les fait pivoter vers l'extérieur et convergent lorsqu'on les fait pivoter vers l'intérieur pour qu'ils reposent près du cou-de-pied de l'utilisateur. La structure de palme (12) comprend en outre un élément de toile souple (24) qui met en prise les bras de palme (22) et dont on a choisi la taille et la forme de façon qu'il occupe la zone créée par les bras de palme (22) qui se déplient ou se replient. La structure amphibie transformable prévoit aussi un dispositif de verrouillage (36) servant à verrouiller la structure de palme (12) en position de mode de nage dépliée et à la déverrouiller lors du passage en position de mode de marche.
