A convertible backpack which is convertible in size between a full backpack to a belt or waist mounted utility pack. The backpack is comprised of a plurality of end to end interconnected panels foldable about the point of interconnection and with a sheet fabric material extending between the side marginal edges to form the front and sides of the backpack. The upper portion of the backpack is foldable within a lower portion such that the pack may be converted between the full backpack configuration to a utility pack configuration designed to be worn around the waist of the user.
