A convertible flashlight (10) is provided having a head portion (12, 14) containing a lamp. A pair of divergent rear surfaces (15a, 15b) are formed on the head portion (12, 14) and a pair of rearwardly-extending arms (16a, 16b) having complementary forward surfaces are joined to the rear surfaces of the head portion by axial-pivotal connections. In a first configuration, the arms extend rearwardly in parallel to provide a handle for configuring the flashlight in a hand-held configuration. When the arms (16a, 16b) are rotated about the axial-pivotal connections to the head portion (12, 14), the distal ends of the arms are moved apart so that the convertible flashlight assumes a second configuration to facilitate mounting the convertible flashlight to the head of the user.

L'invention concerne une torche convertible (10) ayant une portion de tête (12, 14) contenant une lampe. Deux surfaces arrière divergentes (15a, 15b) sont formées sur la portion de tête (12, 14) et deux bras s'étendant vers l'arrière (16a, 16b) et ayant des surfaces frontales complémentaires sont joints aux surfaces arrière de la portion de tête par des charnières. Dans une première configuration, les bras s'étendent vers l'arrière d'une manière parallèle pour constituer une poignée permettant de tenir la torche à la main. Quand les bras (16a, 16b) sont tournés au niveau des charnières par rapport à la portion de tête (12, 14), les extrémités distales des bras sont écartées et la torche prend alors une seconde configuration pour faciliter son positionnement sur la tête de l'utilisateur.
