CONVERTIBLE INNER SHELL FOR SEATING AND THE LIKE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A convertible inner shell is provided for con- structing both armed seats and armless seats. The inner shell has a peripheral edge with at least one notch in which an end portion of a seat arm is received. A tab is hingedly connected with the inner shell, and is shaped to close the outer side of the notch when the tab is closed, so that the peripheral edge of the inner shell is substantially contain- uous for constructing armless seats. When the tab is opened, the notch forms a pocket in which the arm end is received, whereby adapting the inner shell to construct armed seats.
