Convertible submarine that has a heavy-duty hull and can be converted from a conventional mode of propulsion to nuclear propulsion. The submarine comprises an aft section delimited by the heavy-duty hull and two bulkheads, in which electrical power production and storage facilities using batteries and diesel generators are grouped; the aft section can be refitted to convert the submarine to use an anaerobic power source, by replacing the existing facilities with facilities adapted to the said power source while maintaining the said heavy-duty hull and the said bulkheads; this internal substitution would not entail any substantial modification in the weight and mass centring of the said aft section. The invention finds its application in the construction of a convertible submarine that can easily be converted to nuclear power.

Sous-marin convertible à coque résistante capable d'être transformé pour passer d'un mode de propulsion conventionnel à un mode de propulsion nucléaire. Le sous-marin comporte une tranche arrière délimitée par la coque résistante et deux cloisons transversales, dans laquelle sont regroupées des installations de production et de stockage d'énergie électrique utilisant des batteries et des diesels-générateurs; la tranche arrière est transformable pour convertir le sous-marin à l'utilisation d'une source anaérobie d'énergie, en substituant à ces installations des installations adaptées à ladite source d'énergie tout en conservant ladite coque résistante et lesdites cloisons, sans que cette substitution interne n'entraîne une modification substantielle du poids et du centrage massique de ladite tranche arrière. L'invention trouve une application dans la réalisation d'un sous-marin convertible aisément transformable en version nucléaire.
