A surgical clip applier (10) includes a handle assembly, a first clip assembly (21~), and a second clip assembly (21~). The first clip assembly is adapted to receive only a single clip (47) while the second clip assembly is adapted to receive multiple clips (12). The handle assembly (18) is sized and configured to receive alternatively the first clip assembly or the second clip assembly. A jaw assembly (21) includes a pair of jaws each with an elongate support arm, and a bridge (61) holding the jaws in an aligned relationship. A housing (50) has a fixed relationship with the bridge while permitting movement of the jaws between an open and a closed state. A coupling (34) is provided to attach the housing to the handle assembly. An associated method of operation includes the step of removing one of the single clip jaw assembly and the multiple clip-jaw assembly, disposing of the one jaw assembly while mounting the other jaw assembly on the handle.
La présente invention a trait à un applicateur d'agrafes chirurgicales (10) comportant un ensemble de manche, un premier ensemble d'agrafes (21'), un deuxième ensemble d'agrafes (21'). Le premier ensemble d'agrafes est adapté pour la réception d'une seul agrafe (47) tandis que le deuxième ensemble d'agrafes est adapté pour la réception d'une pluralité d'agrafes (12). L'ensemble de manche (18) est dimensionné et conformé pour la réception alternée du premier ensemble d'agrafes ou du deuxième ensemble d'agrafes. Un ensemble de mâchoire (21) comporte une paire de mâchoires chacune comprenant un bras de support, et une liaison (61) maintenant les mâchoires en une relation d'alignement. Un boîtier (50) présente une relation stationnaire par rapport à la liaison tout en autorisant le déplacement des mâchoires entre un état ouvert et un état fermé. Un procédé associé de fonctionnement comprend l'étape de retrait d'un parmi l'ensemble de mâchoire d'agrafe unique et l'ensemble de mâchoire d'agrafes multiples, la séparation dudit un ensemble de mâchoire lors du montage de l'autre ensemble de mâchoire sur le manche.
